As many of you may already know, eHarmony is an online dating service which prides itself on matching people on a multitude of aspects of compatibility. This is a quality dating site, which is clearly in the top tier of services with other leaders in the industry, such as Mate1 and Matchmaker. Eharmony does a lot of things very well, and some things not so well. In this eHarmony review, you will get the low down on what they excel at (which is a lot) and what they need to work on.

Compatibility
First of all, the profiles on eHarmony are amazingly in depth. They have a patented compatibility system which has been scientifically proven to match people who will get along and really appreciate each other. It seems almost sick to bring this level of science into romance, as many people think the two belong no where near each other. However, eHarmony really has cracked the code. In fact, over 40,000 marriages occur in the United States alone, every year, as a direct result of people meeting on eHarmony! They must be doing something right with that compatibility profile. While it is fairly long and a bit of a task to fill out, it seems to be a worthwhile endeavor.

Male to Female Ratio
Most online dating sites tend to have a very lopsided ratio in favor of the men. Each site tends to have about 70% male and 30% female profiles. Because eHarmony is a dating site which is focused much more on serious relationships and true compatibility, men who are looking for a simple one night stand or casual relationship are not found on this site. As a result, the ratio on eHarmony has completely flipped the script! You will find about 70% female profiles and only 30% male on this dating service.

How it Works
Once you sign up, you are allowed to fill out your profile. This is an in depth process and could take you as long as a full hour to complete. The more you put into it, though, the more you will get out of it. These profiles are designed to match you up with the people you will find the most compatible for love.
Once your profile is done, eHarmony goes to work, delivering you fresh and new matches daily. You can review these matches for free and choose which ones you are the most interested in for contact.

The One Major Flaw
While eHarmony is doing excellent work, and truly is one of the best dating sites on the Internet, there is one major issue I have with their site. You can sign up and review your matches for free, but without paying for membership you are unable to contact them. Even if a paying member contacts you because they thought you were interesting, you can’t even message them back! This makes the free trial a very big tease. While it’s understandable that this site provides high quality matches and is thus worth the money, I feel that eHarmony shows a bit of deception in not disclosing this fact.
